Thankful for shade on a hot summer day -
Thankful for breezes that venture my way -
Thankful for beauty in all its display today -
Peace in the quiet, and joy in the light -
Comfort and surety in darkest night -
Courage to speak and defend what is right, I pray -
Storms in the distance signal their threats,
But shelter does beckon, lest I forget -
Lest I forget.....
Gratitude traces its noble design
By lending to giving those thankful in mind -
They shine best in history, who best serve mankind
In their way -
Freedom of will, indeed freedom of choice,
Reflect in themselves that which each would give voice -
Some curse their own fates, while some opt to rejoice
Every day -
Storm clouds do gather, announcing their threats,
But time in the sun is available, yet -

Each dark day yet a blessing - each glad hour never promised -
Love the sweet, bear the bitter - ask not why - such is living,
